This workshop aims to provide the knowledge foundations to individuals and providers seeking to understand the health needs of Black women and femmes of trans experience and how to better provide quality care to them.
- The specific objectives are to:
Expand knowledge of present-day conceptualizations of sex, gender, expression, and sexual orientation; - Explain the impact of intersecting forms of discrimination and stigma on the health of Black women/femmes of trans experience;
- Increase the proficiency of providers to provide culturally sensitive and affirmative care to Black women/femmes of trans experience; and
- Articulate strategies and resources for promoting HIV prevention, testing, and treatment for Black women of trans experience.
